Darla Jean was born singing. Like most Oklahomans who sing (and most do), Darla's earliest memory was singing in church with her red tambourine at the tender age of three. Singing was like a second language and growing up on a ranch in Oklahoma surrounded by cowboys and musicians, she sang along to the rodeo classics as well as her Dad's favorite---Elvis. She had the "itch" to perform at a very early age and never turned down an opportunity to get closer to her dream of being in a band and performing.

After graduating high school as Valedictorian, graduating from pharmacy school, having 2 kids and a career, the itch for performing surfaced again and she began writing songs. She headed to the studio after a friend, Dave Knoth, former member of a popular Phoenix band, Downward Dog, asked them to record a cover of a Christmas song with him which ended up on the album "To the Left of Christmas" benefiting the American Red Cross. In 2005 she was asked by her friend Steve Good of Toadhouse to sit in on a gig at Martini Ranch in Scottsdale. Shortly after that night Randy Bodnar and Mark Henry called and with the addition of Corey Bodnar, Slightly Right was born and her dream fulfilled.

Darla enjoys fronting Slightly Right and performing. She is inspired by Bonnie Raitt, Sheryl Crow, Dixie Chicks, Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers, Elvis, and Melissa Etheridge. She loves to perform rock tunes, country tunes, and rocked-up versions of classic country tunes which is what makes Slightly Right's sound fun and unique. Darla and Randys original creations are full of soulful, about-life lyrics that's Rock and Rebel, Smart and Sexy, Humble and Confident and above all---Fun!! For her the dream of bands and crowds and happiness……..achieved…. complete with an adult-sized red tambourine.
